To my students

This past school year went by so fast. It literally feels like yesterday that I stepped in to room 303 introducing myself to Ms. Sanchez and all of you. Even though for you it was just 1 period of the day, for me those two periods were a big deal. You were the first ones for me to teach in a classroom and I ain’t gonna lie, it kind of sucked a lot of times. You guys brought much joy as well as frustration/sadness/anger. But every time I felt frustrated, I remembered how I was when I was your age and I understood where you are in life. I became a teacher because when I was in high school, I didn’t have anyone at school who really understood me and tried to love on me not just as a “student” but as a whole person. I know that high school can be tough. There is so much peer pressure and you guys are trying to figure out who you really are. There are things like alcohol, drugs, sex, gangs that are trying to own you. On top of that, many of you guys have problems in your families and friends. When there are so much going on, it’s hard to focus on school work at times. I know that most of you hate school including geometry. But I hope that you know the key to success is education and hard work. If you give your best in everything you do, you will succeed in whatever you want to accomplish. It frustrates me so much when I see so many of you not even doing the minimum work because “you don’t feel like it.” You have so much potential to become great and yet if you continue to be lazy, you will end up at a place you hate. All of my friends from high school who were considered “cool” because they hated school and partied all the time are now working at a crap job hating their lives. All the ones who worked hard in high school are now following their dreams. Trust me when I say that there is so much life to be lived after high school so just hang on and look forward to bigger and greater things.

You guys will probably never know how much you all meant to me. I will never forget you no matter how old I may be. I truly hope and pray that every single one of you will give your best in life and become a person who gives his/her life for the sake of others. I could not have asked for a better group of students to teach and I will miss you all greatly. You have my email address so make sure to keep in touch! Whether it’s math help or life help, I will always be available to you. I love you all very much!

P.S. Can you guys send me the pics we took? Pkchung987@hotmail.com thanks!
