The name is Chung, Mister Chung

Here’s to a start of new blog! I did not even know what a tumblr and twitter were until this week because of my students… I guess I am getting old !! I remember the good old days of xanga but I guess that kind of died. hm i wonder if there is a way to add comment section for people? I am so lost with this technology! I am still facinated by the machine called “overhead projector” that I get to use in classrooms. It’s nice that school is out in 3 weeks but thinking of the kids, its pretty sad. I want to be there for all of them throughout their high school days and see them grow. It’s funny because even though all of the freshmen go through ridiculous and pointless drama, when I was their age I probably acted just like them. It kind of breaks my heart when I see that so many of these kids are hurt by their parents and because of that they try to find love from the opposite sex. So many of them are insecure because they don’t receive that unconditional love from their family. It’s hard being a teacher and seeing so much broken hearts walking around and not really being able to do much for them. I guess I’m finding out what it means to be a teacher, mentor, helper, father, brother, friend to the students. If I didn’t have Joe as my mentor from 10th grade on, I would not have ended up where I am today. That is probably a big reason I became a teacher to love on the kids. Nothing saddens me more than seeing a student throw away his/her potential to become great and instead settle for being average.
